Martial artist in gi bowing respectfully, black belt tied around waist.

Owner / Head Coach Adam

From a young age, martial arts and competition have been a major part of my life. I was first introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by my brother at 12 years old. Although I was only able to train for a short time due to commitments to other sports, the experience left a lasting impression on me.

I went on to compete at a high level in soccer, cross-country, and track & field throughout my youth and into high school. My dedication and work ethic earned me a scholarship to run cross-country and track at Saint Leo University. After college, however, I felt like something was missing. A friend convinced me to visit his jiu-jitsu academy, and from that moment on, I was completely hooked. Since then, I can’t remember spending more than a few days away from the mats.

As I continued progressing in Jiu-Jitsu, I was offered a coaching position at a well-known academy in downtown Sarasota, Florida. I spent three years teaching there full-time, working with kids, adults of all ages, and even the Sarasota Police Department. Coaching became more than just a job — it became my passion.

After earning my black belt under CaCa Lima (6th degree black belt), I knew it was time to pursue my dream of opening my own academy. Professor CaCa Lima has been a huge inspiration and mentor throughout my journey, encouraging me to follow my vision and build something special.

Flow Grappling Academy is truly a dream come true. Our mission is to create an environment where kids, adults, first responders, veterans, competitors, and beginners from all walks of life can come together to grow and train in a positive, supportive atmosphere. At FGA, we are more than just a team — we are a community.

Coach Peter at Flow Grappling Academy

Coach Peter

Coach Peter joined FGA in February 2026, bringing more than 15 years of dedicated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience. He began training in 2010 at just 13 years old, quickly developing a passion for the art that would shape much of his life. After progressing through the youth ranks, he earned his blue belt at age 16 and continued refining his game through years of consistent training, competition, and instruction.

Throughout his journey, Coach Peter has trained at multiple academies across Florida, Texas, and Alabama, gaining experience under a variety of instructors and training styles. His competition resume includes victories and podium finishes in organizations such as NAGA, Newbreed, and Copa.

In 2021, Coach Peter earned his black belt under Professors Trent Lewis and Roy Harris. He brings a well-rounded perspective built on years of mat experience, discipline, and continuous learning.

Outside of Jiu-Jitsu, Coach Peter served for 12 years in the United States Army as an Instructor Pilot. He currently serves as a pilot for the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

Wrestling Coach Kevin Austin

Coach Kevin began his wrestling career in the 6th grade and continued through nationally ranked Davison High School, one of the premier wrestling programs in the country. During his time there, the team won four consecutive Michigan State Championships and was nationally ranked in the Top 10 all four years, reaching as high as #2 in the nation. Individually, Kevin compiled a 127-11 record, earned a Top-20 national ranking, and finished as a High School National Runner-Up.

After high school, Kevin transitioned to boxing, training at Wells Boxing Club in Flint, Michigan. He posted an amateur record of 15-1 with 7 knockouts, avenging his only loss in the State Golden Gloves Finals.

Kevin began coaching in 2015 as Head Coach at Bayshore High School, where he rebuilt the program from just three wrestlers into a full lineup and led the team to its first tournament championship since the 1990-91 season. During his three seasons there, the program produced five state qualifiers and three state placers.

He later coached with Manatee Youth Wrestling before moving to Charlotte Youth Wrestling, where his leadership helped produce over 120 Youth State Champions, 25 National Champions, and more than 50 All-Americans. His passion for wrestling and athlete development continues to impact competitors of all ages.
